Mobile Application, an Educational Resource for Nursing Practice in Videolaparoscopic Surgery
Abstract
Introduction: In videolaparoscopic surgery, nursing professionals with adequate levels of knowledge are required due to the increasing use of this surgical technique. Currently, there is a high demand for the development of web applications, which contribute to new study methods and become useful tools for learning.
Objective: To develop a mobile application for nursing practice in videolaparoscopic surgery.
Methods: An exploratory, descriptive study was conducted, also characterized as methodological research at the “Lucía Íñiguez Landín” Surgical Clinical Hospital in Holguín, from July 2022 to August 2024. The Systematic Design Model ADDIE was used for the design, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation.
Results: A mobile application was developed, with its content distributed into five chapters: General Notions, Equipment, Laparoscopic Instruments, Cleaning and Disinfection of Instruments, and Preparation for Basic Surgical Techniques. The content is complemented with images. Alerts related to patient safety are described.
Conclusions: A digital tool was developed to enable continuous preparation of nursing staff in videolaparoscopic surgery, which will improve the performance of these professionals in these surgical techniques and, in turn, ensure the safety of patients undergoing these procedures.
