Approach and Scope
The journal will publish articles of scientific-pedagogical nature, with up-to-date scientific information about the planning, organization and direction of the human resources training subsystem at university level in the field of medical sciences. Its content is primarily aimed at professionals in the health sciences and medical education.
It is the official publication of Havana Medical University and of the Cuban Society of Educators in Health Sciences (SOCECS).
The submission of manuscripts, processing and publication does not offer any cost to the authors; it is totally free.
Peer Review Process
The articles submitted are subjected to a double-blind peer review process where neither the reviewer nor the author have any data that allows them to identify themselves. The author is informed of the decision of the Editorial Committee once the evaluation period has concluded.
The final decision on the publication of the manuscript corresponds to the Editorial Committee, regardless of the decision of the arbitrators.
The Editorial Board will conduct an initial review to determine the relevance of the topic and whether the manuscript complies with the publication guidelines. If the article presents methodological deficiencies or does not deal with a topic of interest to the journal, it will be rejected.
The reception and registration of the manuscript is only the initial step in the editorial process for its selection and does not necessarily lead to its acceptance for publication. The final decision rests exclusively with the Editorial Board, which reserves the right to choose the articles to be published, as well as to make stylistic modifications respecting the original content. The selection of the material proposed for publication is based on the interest for the majority of professionals, scientific soundness, originality, timeliness, timeliness of the information, seriousness in the treatment of the subject, its writing and compliance with the rules of medical ethics. The evaluation process of the articles is totally automated and the author will be able to receive and exchange with the editorial committee, as well as to follow up the evolution of the process, necessarily through the electronic platform (Open Journal System).
Review process
Once the manuscript is registered, it goes to the review or arbitration process, in which the following is taken into account:
- The Editorial Committee will be responsible of the arbitration group or the reviewers.
- Arbitrators will conform to the arbitration regulations adopted by the journal, grounded on the arbitration guide.
- Two specialized arbitrators will be appointed, according to the subject that the manuscript deals with.
- The double-blind review will be carried out.
- If the arbitrators do not agree on their criteria, a third party will be appointed.
- A form will be used where the criteria and arguments of the arbitration are registered. This constitutes the arbitration guide.
- The manuscript must be evaluated and its results recorded in the space reserved for that purpose within 60 days.
Once the result of the review has been received, the arbitrators´ s suggestions will be reconciled.
The Editorial Committee will take the corresponding decision.
The corresponding author will be informed by email of the results of the review, which may be:
- Accept submission. In this case, manuscripts go to the editing and publishing process
- Publishable with modifications. In this case, authors will have 30 days to to prepare a new version, taking into account the recommendations of the review process and register it with the same ID.
- Once registered, manuscripts will go through the review process again. If after 30 days the corrected papers are not received, the Editorial Committee can make the decision to extend the date for another 30 days, or archive them. This decision will always be informed to the corresponding authors by email. If the articles are archived and the authors still desire to publish in the journal, they must register the papers as new manuscripts and notify the editor in the space corresponding to the first step of the registration, explaining that it is a second version of the paper whose title is recorded.
- Re-evaluable. In this case, the main author is notified by email of the review considerations and that the manuscript will be archived. It will be clarified that if they still want to publish the paper in the journal, they must register it as a new submission, commenting to the editor in the corresponding space of the first step of the registration, that it is due to a new version of the work whose title is consigned.
- Not publishable. When the work does not meet formatting requirements, its content does not belong to the scope of the journal or the subject is not of interest. It is recommended to look for another journal related to such topic.
