Abstract

Introduction: Formative models allow progressive development in educational practices. In this way, the analysis of problems and the design of possible solutions from the teaching-educational scenario are achieved.

Objective: To design a formative medical model for the detection of disabling sequelae post-COVID-19 from the Public Health subject.

Methods: An educational research with a materialistic formative approach and qualitative design was carried out at the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey, during 2023. For this purpose, empirical methods were used, including documentary review and open observation. Likewise, theoretical methods such as modeling, systemic-structural analysis and consultations with specialists were considered. The most commonly used techniques were the workshop and brainstorming.

Results: The model is composed of two subsystems: formative projection of the medical student aimed at the detection of post-COVID-19 disabling sequelae from the Public Health subject and contextualization of the medical student's training aimed at the detection of post-COVID-19 disabling sequelae from the Public Health subject. The performance of the medical student in the detection of post-COVID-19 disabling sequelae from the subject Public Health is declared as the quality of higher order, which emerges from the internal and external relationships, coordination, complementarity and systemic approach, between the defined subsystems.

Conclusions: The model designed is in accordance with the current health context, which will allow addressing the sequelae of COVID-19 from the pedagogical approach, during the health care and community training process of the medical student.
