Abstract

Introduction: In the current digital era, society faces accelerated changes in the social, political, economic, cultural and technological aspects. The digital revolution, driven by information, knowledge and innovation, places the educational system as a key element to face these challenges in the knowledge society. Medical education in the twenty-first century aims to respond to the demands of competitiveness, equity and integration, and is increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence, which is revolutionizing the way medicine is taught and learned.

Objective: To identify the impact of the use of technology and artificial intelligence in the transformation of medical education, with an emphasis on opportunities for improvement in learning, accessibility and educational personalization.

Development: The new academic scenarios in medical education have developed specific learning rhythms, where educational trends mediated by technology and artificial intelligence seek to make assessment more flexible, increase feedback strategies, encourage interaction with students, and develop in them competencies and soft skills for the social construction of knowledge. This approach not only improves learning, but also presents ethical and managerial challenges involving all the actors in the educational system, from directors, administrators, teachers, students and the community. Educators must be willing to question and transform their pedagogical methods, adjust their competencies and reorient their educational objectives to align with the innovative capabilities of artificial intelligence. Without this fundamental shift in mindset and teaching practices, the transformative potential of artificial intelligence could be severely limited, as well as perpetuate a gap between technological promise and educational reality.

Conclusions: The success of technology and artificial intelligence in medical education will depend on organizational support, as well as on the commitment of teachers and students to know, design and implement this type of tools without losing their objectivity and critical judgment to execute it in their context effectively, and thus maximize its benefits and ensure a more effective and equitable educational future, within ethical boundaries.
