System of Teaching Procedures for Training the Skill of “Developing a Chronopathogram” in Pathological Anatomy

Authors

Abstract

Introduction: In undergraduate medical training, it is important to acquire the skill of “drawing up a chronopathogram” as part of the content of the Pathological Anatomy course, which will enable students to place each cause of death in its correct place on the death certificate.

Objective: To propose a system of teaching procedures for training in the skill of “preparing a chronopathogram” in Pathological Anatomy.

Methods: A quantitative-qualitative, longitudinal, explanatory, non-experimental study was conducted at the Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Teaching Hospital in Ciego de Ávila during the 2017-2023 academic years. Theoretical, empirical, and statistical methods were used.

Results: The system of teaching procedures for the teaching-learning process of Pathological Anatomy, based on the interdisciplinary functional structure of the skill of “developing the chronopathogram,” constitutes the teaching category where the logical sequence is expressed, the succession of concatenated operations that make up a unit in a specific teaching-learning situation. Integrated into the clinical method, it facilitates the systematization of the skill of “developing the chronopathogram” in accordance with its interdisciplinary functional structure. Each procedure comprises a system of ordered actions aimed at systematizing the skill.

Conclusions: A system of didactic procedures is provided for the training of the skill of “developing the chronopathogram” in medical students, with an interdisciplinary character.
