Abstract

Introduction: Impact assessment is a mandatory activity in master's programs; once these are completed, they must be complemented by the design and implementation of graduate follow-up programs.

Objective: To describe the professional, scientific, and teaching performance of graduates from three Master's programs in Public Health, carried out at higher education institutions in Mexico, Brazil, and Cuba.

Methods: A descriptive and retrospective study was conducted, based on a survey of 48 graduates from master's programs carried out between 2009 and 2018. The evaluation indicators corresponding to the professional, scientific, and teaching performance of the graduates were selected. An online questionnaire was administered at two institutions (Brazil and Mexico) and by email at a Cuban institution.

Results: Of the 48 graduates who responded to the questionnaire, 11 belonged to the Brazilian institution, 10 to the Mexican institution, and 27 to the Cuban institution. Job performance was satisfactory in 100% of graduates, contrary to teaching and scientific performance, where Cuban graduates stood out. The contributions of the programs were recognized by 87.5% of the graduates.

Conclusions: The results are useful for reviewing the content of public health master's programs related to the work, scientific, and teaching performance of graduates, as well as for implementing graduate follow-up programs as an institutional commitment to completing this postgraduate training.
