Graduation Evaluation of Secondary Care Residents in Holguín

Introduction: The graduation evaluation is a comprehensive part of specialty training programs and the form of culminating specialty studies in order to obtain the diploma of base degree specialist. It consists of the following components with their established score: the final mark of the student folder, the state examination and the mark of the specialty completion paper.
Objective: To characterize the behavior of the graduation evaluation in secondary care residents and the correlation between them, evaluated differently.
Methods: A descriptive study was carried out, using theoretical and empirical methods. Pearson's linear correlation was used to obtain the correlation between the different evaluated aspects. The study universe was the 135 secondary care residents graduated in Holguin in 2023.
Results: The greatest number of the examined residents obtained the maximum qualification in all the aspects of the graduation evaluation. The specialties with the best results were clinical, surgical or diagnostic ones. According to the index of association between the studied variables, a negative correlation was obtained between the mark of the specialty completion paper and the card in relation to the final theoretical examination.
Conclusions: The main difficulties that affected the final evaluation of the resident were the lack of objectivity and quality during the evaluation of the course, as well as the poor quality of compliance with the evaluation of the specialty completion work regarding the schedule.
